The remuneration
In order to begin training as a nurse in Germany, it is necessary to obtain a training contract as a nursing student in a clinic. CareLend supports both sides competently on all contractual questions and in drafting the contracts.
During the training the trainees receive compensation oriented to the importance that the public authorities attach to nursing students. This compensation is intended to ensure that the students are financially secure during their training.
In addition to financial support, trainees at some schools also receive a laptop at the start of their training which they can use during their training and which they may keep after successfully completing their training. This is intended to ensure that the students have the necessary technical means during their training and can continue to access these resources after completing their training.

The prerequisites
In order to begin training in Germany, certain prerequisites must be met. A fundamental condition is secondary school education with a qualification demonstrating academic capability, such as the Abitur or a comparable qualification, but at least recognition of completion of the 10th grade.

Furthermore it is important that the applicant is medically fit, as training in the medical field can be demanding.
A further important factor is mastery of the German language. Applicants must be able to present a declaration of completion of level B2 in German with a success rate of over 80% in the four language components. Good grades in chemistry and biology during school as well as a six-month internship in a medical facility in the home country before entry to Germany are further prerequisites expected of applicants.
Important: these requirements are not state provisions of the Federal Republic of Germany. CareLend offers optimal support for implementing the legal obligations.
In order to examine the suitability of applicants, a psychological and scientific aptitude test is carried out by the training organisation. Only if applicants pass this test successfully are they admitted to the training.
During the training students complete various courses and internships in clinical facilities in order to gain practical experience and put theoretical knowledge into practice. At the end of the training students must take a diploma examination in order to demonstrate their skills and knowledge and obtain official admission as a medical professional.
Overall, training in the medical field in Germany is very demanding and requires a great deal of commitment and perseverance. However it is a worthwhile investment in the future, as there is high demand for medical professionals in Germany and career opportunities are very diverse.
The process
Training as a health and nursing care worker is a demanding training that as a rule lasts 3 years full-time. It is divided into theory and practice phases and imparts extensive knowledge and practical skills to prospective nurses.
During the training the trainees complete a total of 2,100 hours of theory teaching. Here they are taught the theoretical foundations of nursing. They learn, for example, about the anatomy and physiology of the human body, clinical pictures and treatment options. Legal and ethical aspects of nursing are also part of the teaching.
In the practical phase of the training the trainees spend 2,500 hours in adjoining clinic departments and facilities. Here they apply their theoretical knowledge in practice and acquire practical skills. They care for and look after patients, assist with medical procedures and learn how to handle nursing aids and techniques.
During the training period it is obligatory in the practical phase also to work in the early morning hours or at the usual daytime or night-time. This serves to give trainees a comprehensive insight into the working world of a qualified nurse.
The training concludes with an oral, written and practical examination. Here the prospective nurses must demonstrate the knowledge and practical skills they have acquired. If they pass the examination successfully, they may officially call themselves Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann and work in this profession.

The following documents are required:
- A tabular curriculum vitae covering previous school and professional career.
- A copy of the most recent graduation or school-leaving certificate.
- Copies of all school reports issued before the final year of study.
- An assessment of the internship completed in a clinical practice lasting at least half a year.
- If the applicant has already begun or completed a university degree, they should submit a certificate of this or a degree certificate.
- A power of attorney from the applicant to CareLend so that the organisation may contact authorities, submit applications and so on in their name.
- A B2 certificate in German confirming the applicant’s language skills.
- An agreement between the candidate and CareLend setting out the conditions of the training.
- A letter of motivation or motivation form setting out the reasons for the application and suitability for the training.
