CareLend GmbH supports professional recognition through an adaptation course. Depending on the federal state, international nursing professionals must pass specific examinations to obtain permission or authorisation to practise as qualified nurses. Passing these examinations requires thorough preparation in both language and clinical practice.

What is the Adaptation Program?

According to Section 66a (1) of the Nursing Professions Act (Pflegeberufegesetz – PflBG) of 17 July 2017 (BGBl. I p. 2581), as amended, applicants who obtained their nursing training outside the scope of this Act may apply for recognition of their professional qualification.

As part of the recognition procedure – based on Section 6 (2) PflBG in conjunction with Section 44 (2) of the Training and Examination Ordinance for the Nursing Professions (PflAPrV) – authorisation to use the professional title "Pflegefachfrau" or "Pflegefachmann" may be granted.

As a rule, qualifications are not equated with a German nursing qualification. The applicant therefore receives a so-called deficit/assessment notice and can choose one of two options:

  • Option 1: Participation in the knowledge test (Kenntnisstandprüfung).
  • Option 2: Participation in an adaptation measure with a certified provider of such measures.

The adaptation course gives nursing professionals the opportunity to prepare for working life in Germany and integrate successfully. It combines classroom instruction with practical training in a healthcare facility. The programme length is set individually by the competent state authority and is generally 4 months of theory and 6 months of internship .

Our approach

Program Structure

Theoretical part

Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day. Topics: nursing subjects, orientation in Germany, cultural & political aspects, accompanied by practical exercises. Venue: Weißenfels.

6 months

Practical phase

After theory: practical placements in the departments assigned by the state authority. Support and regular exchange by the measure management.

Final step

Final interview & professional recognition

The measure ends with a final interview. Successful participants receive information on the issuance of the professional certificate.

CareLend Bildungsgesellschaft mbH is an approved provider of adaptation measures for foreign nursing professionals.

Requirements for participation:

  • Theoretical training at a training center
  • Existence of a deficit notice / assessment notice from the competent state authority.

Typical program duration:

  • 4 months theoretical training
  • 6 months practical training

Total duration: as a rule 10 months

The aim of this adaptation measure is to eliminate all differences according to the assessment notices issued by the competent state authorities.

Program Overview

Program Overview

Employment Contract & Start Date

Participants receive an employment contract before arrival in Germany. They begin working as care workers in recognition or nursing assistants during the program.

Free Participation

Participation is free for both employers and participants. The program is financed through an education voucher. CareLend Bildungsgesellschaft is AZAV-certified, allowing the use of education vouchers.

Theoretical Training

Duration: about 4 months

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day

Training topics include:

  • Nursing subjects
  • Orientation in Germany
  • Cultural and political aspects
  • Practical exercises

Accommodation Support

CareLend organizes accommodation for participants in Weißenfels during the theoretical phase.

Practical Training Phase

After completing the theoretical training, participants begin their practical phase in healthcare institutions assigned by the state authority. CareLend provides supervision and continuous support throughout this stage.

Final Interview & Professional Recognition

At the end of the program, participants take part in a final interview. Successful participants receive confirmation about issuance of their professional certificate. Until the certificate is issued, they can work as nursing assistants. After receiving the certificate, they can work as qualified nursing professionals.

Knowledge Test vs Adaptation Program

International nurses can choose between two paths for professional recognition. The best option depends on:

  • Individual circumstances

Our Educational Institution

CareLend Bildungsgesellschaft mbH is an approved provider of adaptation programs for foreign nursing professionals. The institution is AZAV-certified and offers structured training programs designed to prepare participants for professional recognition in Germany.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Current CV
  • Deficiency notice issued by the State Administrative Office
  • Education voucher from the Job Center or Federal Employment Agency
  • Employment contract or internship contract
  • Valid residence permit
  • German language certificate B1 or higher (B2 recommended)

Costs & Funding

The program can be financed through an education voucher. Because the course is AZAV-certified, participants can receive funding from the Job Center or Employment Agency. Minimum participants: 12. Maximum participants: 20.

Training Location

CareLend Bildungsgesellschaft, Feldstr. 4a, 06667 Weißenfels, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Theoretical training takes place in Weißenfels. The practical phase is conducted in healthcare institutions across Germany.
