As a nurse you care for and look after people at every stage of life. The fields include:

Until now a distinction was drawn between these three fields of care and each was a profession in its own right. On 1 January 2020 the new nursing qualifications of “Pflegefachfrau” and “Pflegefachmann” came into being. They make it possible to work across all care settings.
The tasks in nursing cover the independent observation, advising, support and care of patients in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Depending on specialisation and qualification, there is also the documentation and evaluation of nursing measures, carrying out doctors' orders and assisting with medical procedures. At the same time, as a member of the nursing staff you are available to relatives as a competent point of contact.
A qualified nurse is a health and nursing care professional and works in a range of care institutions. In their working life, qualified nurses are responsible for the support, advice and medical care of people of all age groups who are in need of care.
Working as a qualified nurse calls for comprehensive medical expertise. Qualified nurses have to know how to take blood, how to apply and change dressings, how to treat wounds and how to set up infusions, for example. Beyond that, dealing with patients plays a considerable part in the profession.
Nurses are also the link between doctors, therapists, relatives and patients. They carry out orders given by doctors, assist with examinations and treatments, prepare patients for therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and document patient data.
This includes personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, prevention (prophylaxis) and the promotion of independence and communication. These basic care services are carried out by nursing auxiliaries in general or geriatric care, by relatives providing care, or by other carers.

It is a part of the foreign nurse's work in their home country too, but there such tasks are performed by auxiliaries or by relatives. Added to this are difficulties around religious and cultural aspects of working with both sexes.
Only once we are satisfied that this has reached the nurse transparently and comprehensibly do we begin our placement process.
Information for the applicant
Qualified nurses can find out about the profession at any time from the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (Federal Employment Agency) and all other relevant bodies. Germany has a network of various nursing associations that are available to advise nurses at any time.
In the run-up to taking up work, our branch offices in the applicant's home country are there for them. Here they are advised and accompanied professionally and supportively.
